The Narrow Way

The grass is fresh along the narrow way,
For few courageous souls the path have trod.
The broad has better views, or so they say—
The walk is easy and not half so odd.
But many miss the way the light can dance
Across the leaves with morning’s sleepy yawn,
The whisp’rings of the holy King’s romance
Behind the shadows of the chilly dawn.
The secrets of the Lord are never told
To those who traverse on the well-worn street;
But in the woods are treasures manifold,
The Shepherd’s fellowship is ever sweet.
I love to walk the narrow path with God,
For then the ground becomes a holy sod.
